A few weeks ago, while trying to expand our grilling repertoire, we tried a NY Times recipe for “Japanese burgers with wasabi ketchup”. The burger patty includes breadcrumbs, which makes it taste more like meatloaf than a conventional burger. That’s not what we generally look for in a burger, so we probably won’t be making the patties again. The wasabi ketchup, on the other hand, is a keeper and is made by mixing together the following:
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon wasabi paste
For a musical pairing, anything by vocalist Yamatsuke Eye should do. One our friends made some noises reminiscent of Eye’s performance here:
